Top 11 Sing Motown

Oh yeah!  Tonight's theme?  Motown Baby!
So many awesome songs to choose from!
Tonight should be a GREAT night!  So excited!!!
American Idol ~ Season 10 ~ Top 11
Crazy Casey:  “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”  Wow!  Much better job.  I like it when he doesn't scream it out.  Sure, last week was Nirvana, but it was borderline crazy.  That advice about control was just what he needed to hear.  Enjoyed the start to the show tonight! :)
Little Thia: “Heat Wave” I enjoyed hearing something more upbeat, but it wasn't as let loose as I would like to see for her.  I totally agreed with J Lo about connecting with the lyrics.  The judges actually seem to have solid advice this year!  Thia is so pretty and has a sweet voice.
Gospel Jacob (or Lusk as my Sis calls him): “You’re All I Need To Get By” Motown, this should be right up Jacob's alley... and it was. Great job! For once I REALLY liked his performance and so did the judges.  Steven Tyler even went up and hugged him at the end of this performance.  He even got a hug from his grandmother ...and a line of people from the audience.  A little weird.
Southern Lauren: “You Keep Me Hanging On”  She reminds me of my friend Terrah back in Pikeville.  She even looks just like her Mommy, just like Terrah does!  So, yeah... I have a soft spot for this girl!  Another solid performance.  I think that was a great pick for her.  Great job.  J Lo liked her attitude and look... and I have to agree.  She looked  fabulous tonight!
Cute Stefano: “Hello” He sang it well, but the judges are right... he needs to connect and feel it from his heart.  He did have his eyes closed a lot like he was concentrating so hard on singing it well, which he did... although it was a bit over enunciated for me at times.
Spunky Haley: “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me”   Girl's got soul this week.  She did great.  I was worried at the beginning, but then she got into it.  Effortless control as J Lo put it and her voice really does go where she wants it to go.  J Lo and I are on the same vibe tonight!
Country Scotty: “For Once In My Life"  Okay, I can appreciate they are trying to let people stay in their zone and be "true to themselves" and "make it their own"... blah blah blah...  What?  Steven liked that?  J Lo and Randy liked the low note at the end, the "lady killer" as Randy called it.  I didn't care too much for it.  It was okay.  I guess.  Just not me... and not really Motown.  Ya know?
Miss Pia: “All In Love is Fair” Man!  This girl can sing!  Wow.  What a voice!  She's a Celine, AHHH!  J Lo just said it too!  She's right just singing at a mic is a little boring, she needs to move.  Randy's right too... "you can't live on ballads alone"  We something different! She can do it too... Celine does!  Pia has an amazing voice and Steven acknowledged her for it.
Unique Paul “Tracks of My Tears” He just said Motown is music that makes you move.  Oh my... is he going to dance?  I liked that acoustic version in the pre-performance interview.  His performance was pretty good too.  Not bad, it was a good time.  I don't think it was "the moment" they were hoping for, but it was good.  I totally agree with Randy... he has such a unique voice, but that tender singing is where it's at!  Wish he would do it a little more.
Funky Naima: “Dancing In The Street” Okay, I appreciate what she was trying to do, but I didn't care for that.  I mean it wasn't as fun as I had hoped and then... it was over the top.  Whoa!  She broke out in a crazy African dance.  It was like going from 30 to 180 for me.  Surprised by the judges...  Steven loved it.  J Lo got goosebumps for the first time tonight.  Randy said she did smart with the arrangement.  Guess J Lo and I aren't on the same page any more.  That's just not my thing.  To each his own.
Rockin' James: “Living for the City” I have to admit I was excited about this performance.  I really like him, and early on I wasn't a fan... but now I am.  Well... he didn't disappoint! The crowd went nuts for him and he soaks it up.  I used to think that he was just trying to copy Adam Lambert with the screaming notes, but now he controls it better and I like him.  Ryan even cracked a joke "I think the problem is you just aren't comfortable in front of a crowd."  Ha ha ha!  Are we sure this guy really has both Tourette syndrome and Asperger's?
Voting for Jacob for the first time tonight.
Also voting for Lauren, Pia and James.
Told ya it's always funny to see how my picks change.  :)
Wow.  Tough night.  Tough because there were so many good performances it's hard to know who to vote for!   I really enjoyed the show tonight!  Who are you voting for?  Who should go?
