Snowy Mountain Sunday

Today the morning was spent cleaning and then going outside to work in the yard.  I pulled weeds, raked leaves and trimmed the tree in the backyard.
Before / After
I still have a few bigger limbs I need to trim, but my nippers weren't cut out for a job that big!  I also cleaned up the river rocks in the front yard.  Boy did they need it!

Before / After

Jason came out to help after he did some studying.  He raked the rest of the yard.
He also took out the citrus tree which was pretty much dead.
We could see there was snow on the mountains!
We decided to take a trip up to the Santa Rita Mountains and check out the snow.
 It was a nice drive.
 So beautiful!

We drove up Mt. Hopkins, but only part of the way.

We passed the trail Jason bikes.  Notice how "mountain" is spelled. :)
It's a dirt road headed up to the observatory at the top...  and it looked like it was really snowing up there!
The Smithsonian Institution's Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory.
Check out those giant telescopes!!  There were four that we could see.
It was pretty.  I was freaking out a bit.  I don't like curvy mountain roads that are one lane, made of dirt and drop off the side like that. YIKES!
We got out and took a couple of pictures.  BRRR!!!  It was COLD!

Jason threw a snowball at me in the car!  Meanie!  :)
We walked down this trail to this strange place.

There was a hut with a door, but it had a wire fence over the door and rocks piled up inside.
There was also this fire pit.  It was pretty cool.  There were candles in there.  Jason asked, "What do you think this place is, a hippie commune?"  I said maybe they are satanic devil worshipers and they wait for someone to stumble upon this site so they can sacrifice them!  Ha ha ha!  Okay, maybe not so funny.  It was strange.
There was a shack that Jason said had running water in it.  Weird.

We headed home as the sun was setting.

The setting sun...
 ...and the changing clouds...
 make for ever changing mountains.
 So pretty!!
I couldn't stop taking pictures on the drive home!
 I love the west!
 Cotton candy clouds!
The sky was so beautiful when we got to our neighborhood:

I made the spinach & mushroom quesadillas I had been dying to try from Pioneer Woman's site.

They were okay.
It was my first time to cook with wine, and she is right mushrooms like that are divine!!  I'm not a fan of cooked spinach, except in my spinach artichoke dip... so I had that going against me.  I should have chopped it up before I cooked the spinach.  The only other problem was they were too greasy.  I don't have a grill pan, so I had to make mine in a skillet.  That is probably why mine turned out greasier.  Oh... and the Fontina cheese was expensive and didn't grate well, so I had to use slices.  Oh well.  You never know until you try.  I watched a little of the Oscar's while Jason did some more studying, but I grew tired of them.  Jason is now watching M*A*S*H as I type this.  He loves that show and I don't really like it, but he does put up with all my shows... so even though I made a yuck face, I didn't say a word.  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I'm sure it was too short.  They always are.  **sigh**

Until next time.... sweet dreams.
