Cactus Kelly :)

Jason really likes the cactus I got him... in fact I've inspired him to want MORE!
Since Jason was off today, we decided to head to Tucson.
After a quick bite at La Salsa (YUM!) we went to
Mesquite Valley Growers to check out the landscaping options!
This place is HUGE and beautiful with all the wonderful plants, flowers and fountains with the Santa Catalina Mountains as a backdrop!

Very nice! :)
Lots of cactus...
to check out.
All different kinds!!
These were called Old Man Mexico.  :)  Isn't that funny?
Lots of needles!!
Yes, I stuck myself a few times.  OUCH!
This lilac bush smelled AMAZING!  I really want to get one of these one day too!!
Lots of pottery...
 but it was pretty pricey.
Jason picking out a Saguaro Cactus. :)
Loading up our buggy!

I love it here & I'm super excited about our purchases!
I rode home with this guy, I didn't want one of his paddles breaking off...
even though he stuck me and Jason both several times!  Mean little sucker!
Our loot!  :)
We got the Santa Rita Prickly Pear (in front of the night booming cactus).  It will produce yellow flowers in late spring, red/purple pear shaped fruit in summer, and bluish pads turn reddish with cold!  Very attractive! :)
Blue Glow Agave.  It has red and yellow edges.  We bought two!
Retro Choke Agave.  Blue green leaves with teeth.
Golden Barrel Cactus.  It will bloom mid summer.  Not sure what color the flowers will be!!
Trumpet Flower Cactus.  This one will grow in clusters and produce HUGE dinner plate size hot pink flowers!  Ooooh!  I can't wait to see that!!
And our beloved Saguaro.  Sure we have to wait about 100 years for it to grow an arm... but Jason REALLY wanted it. :)
Ahhh... now to figure out where it all goes and plant it!
**sigh**  That will have to wait for another day.  I'm so sad the weekend is almost over.  Bummer.  Well... going to spend some time with my love. Have a happy Monday!
