While looking through Pinterest the other day, I saw lots of art using Monograms or letters.
I took some of the ideas I saw and decided to make my own "H" art.
I bought a wood "H" and a plaque at Michaels.
Then I got out the small cans of paint we had for our house.
I decided to paint the plaque our front door color and
the "H" the color of most of the walls in the house.
Then I placed it in a nice wooden book holder
my in-laws got us for Christmas last year.
I think it turned out nice! I might add to it with some scroll work or something down the road, but for now it works for me.
I also framed some art I found in a gallery magazine. I picked it up at the airport and once I saw how beautiful the art was inside, decided to pick up a couple of more copies when we returned to the airport! I simply cut them out of the magazine using my Fiskars scrapbook cutter and place in a frame. These frames I got at Walmart for $3 each.
This is my Fiskars scrapbook cutter:
You simply pull up the ruler, slide the paper in, line it up with where you want it to cut,
and slide the orange tab. It has a blade on the bottom and cuts a nice straight line.
I cannot tell you how many times I have used this thing!
It is awesome for framing photos and trimming them to
the right size as well as scrapbooking!
If you want to find one, Google Fiskars paper trimmer and there are bunches.
The art work below is from that same gallery magazine,
and the frame is from the 99¢ Store!
I spray painted this frame from white to silver to go with
my other frames on my picture wall.
It was the perfect size to fill a space that had been driving me crazy!
Other sources of art for framing could be calendars, and cards.
You could also go to the Visitor Information for your area or state
and pick up some magazines with beautiful art of your area!
Gourmet magazines for kitchen art?
Postcards from where you live or cool places you have traveled!
Don't think you have to find a photo you like inside of these magazines either. You might just want to frame the cover, like I did below. Actually, I put the entire magazine inside the frame because I couldn't get the cover off cleanly enough and luckily it all fit in the frame!
I love that it boldly says my state's name at the top
and also that it is the 100 year anniversary issue! :) Score!
I used another one of my Walmart frames this one was
a document size so it's 8.5x11, perfect for my magazine!
I used another 99¢ Store frame above it and put in
shots I had taken of our area in Arizona.
You can also use this idea to make inexpensive holiday art.
Frame a beautiful holiday card and display during that season.
Really the possibilities are endless and it looks great! :)
