Last night we ate appetizers and spent a quiet evening at home. I actually fell asleep but woke up before midnight. We rang in the new year with Ryan Seacrest and watched the ball drop, but went to sleep shortly afterward. I know, old married couple right? Ha ha.
This morning I watched the Rose Parade which was extra special this year with a soldier being reunited with his family on a float and a couple getting married on a float during the parade!
We went to the movies and watched Django Unchained. It was very good, and over the top violent as all Quentin Tarantino movies are. That evening, on New Year's Day we finally had our champagne and had pizza with Canadian bacon & pineapple. Eating pork on New Year's is based on the idea that pigs
symbolize progress. The animal pushes forward, rooting itself in the ground
before moving, also thanks to its rich fat content, it signifies wealth and prosperity.
We watched Seeking a Friend for the End of the World while I filled our my calendars, one for work and one for home.
As this first day of the new year comes to an end,
I feel relaxed, happy and hopeful.
I truly have a feeling that this is going to be a great year for us...
I hope it is for you too.
Happy 2013!
