Today is our 4th Anniversary! We are in Tucson checking out the town and trying to find a place to live. We arrived on the 20th, and went to see houses right away!
We have been keeping pretty busy! When we got back from our trip to west Kentucky, Tennessee & Florida, we had a ton of stuff to do! Plus Jason got a packet from his residency program with a ton of paperwork to do and things like cashier's checks to get and fingerprinting to have done! So we stayed VERY busy Monday since most of the stuff we could only do on a weekday!! We ended up getting to Louisville late Monday night, so we only got about 4 hours of sleep the night before our flight! We thought we would try to sleep on the planes, but had a crying baby on BOTH flights! UGH! The baby on the second flight (the 4 hour one) was sitting behind me, crying, puking and kicking my seat! So nice! Anyway, we got here, got our rental car, checked in the hotel and met our agents. Then we went out to look at 7 houses! We drove back toward their office around 7pm (10pm back home) so we were BEAT! Jason was asleep by 9 and me by 9:30! On the plus side, we were up at 6am! :) We ate a free breakfast downstairs in the hotel and then sat in our room looking at all the houses, ruling out ones we didn't want, ranking the ones we saw, and planning our day! We ate lunch at In-N-Out and met Dwayne (Michelle's Dad & one of our agents, she had the day off) and looked at the rest of our houses, 8 new ones and 1 from yesterday. Unless something else comes on the market or a house lowers their price (which is happening a lot) we don't have anything else to look at. We had it down to a top 3 and decided to put in an offer on one. We already lost one last night that we loved! It went under contract right after we saw it! :( It was so nice! Oh well... wasn't meant to be! The one we put an offer on is in Sahuarita which is to the south of Tucson, about 20-30 miles. It would be a quick commute for Jason, and the neighborhood is REALLY nice! I loved the landscaping on the common grounds & all the amenities! We decided to go in and put an offer a little lower than asking + closing costs. It's a really cute house and although it does need some very minor work, I think it would suit us nicely. So... we went into our Byers Agent's office and began the mountain of paperwork! WOW! Our Buyers Agents are a daughter/father team, Michelle & Dwayne. They have been so wonderful. Dwayne was a contractor, so he could look at houses and kind of tell us what would be an easy fix! So, we were in their office for quite a while this afternoon. They took the time to explain to us all the details, since we have never bought a house before! There were a few things we had to wrap our brains around! :) We will see what happens. We would have a little work, painting, landscaping, etc., but not too much! We fully expect a counter offer... but now we wait! To celebrate we went out for Mexican food for dinner and to see the movie Date Night! We tried a new restaurant called El Charro Cafe! :) It was delicious!! I think we found a new favorite! Yummy!
