Goodbye Dr. Strosnider

Today was the memorial service for the Dean of the medical school.
John A. Strosnider, DO, passed away on, June 21, 2007.
He was not only the current and founding Dean of the PCSOM, but also the American Osteopathic Association President.  I am helping out with the SAA.  We are going to hand out programs and just help out with whatever else the school needs us to do.  He was a very respected man and even called every med student personally to tell them they had been accepted to med school.  I remember when he called Jason.  We were out to eat at El Torro in Johnson City with my parents and he called.  Jason was so happy, and it was such a big deal that the dean called himself to tell him the good news!  So cool.  He will really be missed.  So, it's a sad day. It was an emotional service and had me crying.  One lady was speaking about what a gift osteopathic treatment is when all a doctor can offer is some comfort.  I was so moved.  I feel so badly for Jo Ann, John's wife and his children.  I can't imagine how difficult this has all been for them.

Oh a happier note, we just found out that Quentin, our photographer for the wedding got engaged to Candace (his girlfriend that was there at the wedding) on July 2nd.
They are planning a wedding next spring.  I think Jason will be taking the photos to return the favor he did for us. :)

Also, I have been getting super excited about our vacation... which is soon!  One week from today we will be on our way to COLORADO!  How funny that my sister is going out there this week!!  I can't wait.  We will be driving to Lexington, (if I have my way, and I think I will) the night before, stay the night in a hotel and be at the airport bright and early.  Then we will get our rental car and drive from Denver to Steamboat Springs once there.  We are staying with Jason's Dad, Sue & grandkids Caroline & Sam at Jason's Dad's timeshare!  It should be so fun!  They are driving out, but we are flying.
